This coming weekend is Memorial Day weekend in the United States with Memorial Day itself on Monday.

This is a day honoring those who lost their lives in military service, similar to Remembrance Day in the British Commonwealth, Volkstrauertag in Germany, the ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand and many other days of remembrance all over the world.

Redemption and activation instructions

  1. Go to http://game.heroesandgenerals.com/ or launch the Steam client.
  2. Log in
  3. Click the Menu button in the top right corner
  4. Click on the “Redeem Voucher” button
  5. Paste or type in the voucher code “MEMORIALDAY2015” and click “OK”
  6. Click one of the “flash-icons” on the ribbon overview
  7. Click on “Activate booster” in the top right corner, when you’re ready to activate the booster – please note that a booster only last for 4 hours after activation, so use them wisely!

Newgarden is online!

The new build named Newgarden (after the American Major General Paul Newgarden) is live on the servers! And here is a short update explaining the new features we’ve added for you to enjoy!

New Features

Character Progression and new Combat Ribbons & Badges

The biggest new feature in this build is the brand new Character Progression Tree! Now all new heroes start out as infantrymen and as you capture points, kill enemies and gain experience your hero will climb in rank. Whilst moving through these ranks, your hero will be offered the opportunity to branch off and join the armour forces, recon or the air force, as well as unlocking the ability to use more advanced weapons and equipment. New Airfield Map

The old Airfield has been closed for takeoff and landing and a brand new Airfield map is here! It is now a much more fully-fledged and exciting map with multiple attack routes, and will require some tactical thinking when choosing a direction for attack. If you want to know more about the Airfield map read along here: Part 1 & Part 2.

New game interface

We have worked our way through the game and updated the interface and streamlined the look and layout. Mainly the interface is now split into a ‘Heroes’ and a ‘Generals’ section to help you see where to depending on what you want to do. We will continue to work on the interface to make it more accessible, more consistent and easier to use.

New Pz.I & Pz.III textures

On a smaller scale, we have also updated the textures and shaders on the Panzer I and the Panzer III and in the coming builds we will continue to polish vehicles to make sure they look as good as possible. You can see a couple of pictures of the new versions here. And as the commander of the Panzer III was done emptying the crate full of cake he had momentarily placed on top of his turret, he of course removed it, so it wouldn’t block his viewports. ;-)

Improved Low Quality Render

We have also updated the “low quality” render to give a graphical boost to lower-end machines. This will raise the minimum requirements a tiny bit, but more than makes up for it by making the low quality setting look so much better. Read more and see a few example screenshots here.
