Ribbons now unlock Uniforms, Vehicle Paint and Weapon Finish

As you have seen we are currently working on improving the game’s interface and making features easier to find and moving them to more logical places, as well as revising the player’s progression.
One part of the changes for progressing through the game, we have now moved Character Uniforms, Vehicle Paint Jobs and Weapon Finishes to the Ribbon for the relevant character, vehicle or weapon.

While vehicle paint jobs and weapon finishes unlock on the Specialist Ribbons, uniforms unlock on various ribbons. You can always see the uniforms available for a given soldier by clicking on the camouflage tab in the equipment overview on his right. Clicking the respective Ribbon Progression, such as in this example, will show you where specifically the uniform unlocks.

New Player Levels and Matchmaking Groups for improved Player Progression

As a continuation to the number of changes being done to improve the user journey – from entering to mastering the game, we also revised the Tier system.

In order to have a more granulated progression system and to give players a better feeling of personal achievement, the Tier system has been refined and redesigned into Player Levels.

This will also have an effect on the matchmaker and balance of the game in regards to players’ experience and skill level on the battlefield.

Game Director addressing the grind

We have heard you when you express concerns that Heroes & Generals is too much of a grind – it is something that we have had a look at and we decided to ease the grind somewhat.

We got hold of our Game Director Reto.RedBjarne and got him to us what will happen to Rank Progression with the release of the ‘Furness – Fist of Steel’-update.

New Ribbons & unlocks in Walker update

In the coming Walker update we are moving some ribbons around and adding a bunch of new ones.

We are rolling the rifle ribbons into a new “Infantry Assault” ribbon and the tank ribbons into one “Armor Assault” ribbon.

CONVERSION

But what about my progress on the removed ribbons? We’ll take your progress from the individual ribbons and ADD them together, so a lot of you might start the new ribbon at a very high level, we thought this is the most fair thing to do.

ARMOR & INFANTRY ASSAULT

The two new ribbons introduced are the main ribbons for Infantry and Tankers and progress in these ribbons are unlocks weapons and vehicles in the different categories.

Beta Videolog 10: “Newgarden” is now online.

The new build ‘Newgarden’ is online with a lot of exciting new stuff! We hope you will all help us welcome new players and community members to the game. With Winter Solstice & Christmas upon us we managed to get Reto.KenSolo and Reto.Colding in from the cold and into the editing booth and they went straight to work on a new videolog showing you some of the updates in the Newgarden build. Tier based matchmaking

As an extension to the matchmaking work required by  ‘Play with Friends‘ and as part of the general effort in making the game easier to understand for new players we are working on adding tiers to matchmaking as has been requested by the community for a LONG time. So without wasting further keystrokes, take it away Reto.Hal9K (tier 3) – Reto.Robotron3000

To help avoid the situation where first-time players are being completely overrun by more experienced players, we are working on adding tiers into the action game matchmaking. This is also a benefit for the veterans, as they won’t be as frustrated with people new to the game who might not yet understand what “NMY pz3 at B2 app. B3” means. :-)


In the first iteration we will stick with two tiers, cleverly named: Tier 1 & Tier 2
