We are in the progress of polishing up a bunch of new toys for you at a scale you haven’t seen from us before! A series of massive updates bringing loads of new weapons and vehicles, plus some really cool new features will hit the live servers over the next few weeks, and we’re dying to present this to you – but… no spoilers… You’ll just have to wait and see ;-)
Yes, we know it’s not fair to tease you like that, but stay tuned – the new updates will hit the live servers before you can say “Jagdpanzer acht-und-dreißig T”, ten times in a row.
Wars Aren’t Won By TANKS Alone Trailer
To celebrate the upcoming content-fest, we are proud to present our new Heroes & Generals “Wars Aren’t Won by Tanks Alone” gameplay trailer showcasing the various different roles you can take in the persistent war between Axis and Allies in the European theater of war and reminding you that you need soldiers to win a war – not just tanks and planes… ;-)
A shout out goes to the dedicated community-members who helped us stage these scenes and an Academy Award, BAFTA & Emmy goes to them for their performance as actors, when we captured these fantastic in-game shots – thanks for all the late hours you put in!
Save time – buy a weapon now!
We realize that not all players have an equal amount of time to play Heroes & Generals and grind their way towards unlocking new weapons, so we now offer you to save time and purchase a weapon with gold before you have unlocked it. However, you may still purchase it for credits if you wait until you have unlocked it through ribbon- or rank-progression.
You can of course only buy and equip weapons that your selected character can use, but you don’t have to spend the time earning credits and unlocks for it if you’d rather spend a bit of gold and get cracking right away.
We feel this fits in nicely with the game’s philosophy of spending gold to save time, so you either earn a new gun by spending time grinding credits or you work your day job and spend money instead. This is the most fair solution for everybody, so if you want something NOW – you pay for it, and if you are ok with it taking some time – you play for it. :-)
So if you’re itching to try out new weaponry: stock up on gold in the shop here and then head to the shop ingame.

We have just uploaded the first hotfix of the Oster build. This new hotfix addresses both a handful of bugs that we’ve found over the last couple of days as well as a few tweaks.
- Machine guns (M1918, MG34, M1919 & MG42): Range increased, and “far Damage” lowered
- this has the effect that the weapons will damage enemies further away.
- Sub-machine guns (MP40 & Thompson): Near damage buffed, range increased
- this makes the SMGs a bit more effective
- Semi-Auto rifles (M1 and G43): Range increased
- this makes the weapons a bit more effective at range
- Head damage multiplier upped from 3 to 4
Other Tweaks & Fixes
The new build named Oster (after the German Major General Hans Oster) is live on the servers! So that you know what to look out for when you jump in, here’s a short update explaining the new features we’ve added for you to enjoy!

As you may have seen, we’ve been revealing many details about the upcoming Oster build on the blog over the past couple of weeks, and the response we’ve had so far has been fantastic. Reading about all the exciting things we’re bringing in with the next build is all well and good, but we thought it might be nice to do something a little different and actually show you some of the new features in action!
Before we release a new build, we have a small squadron of loyal soldiers wreaking havoc on our test server, doing their best to break anything and everything they can. It was these grizzled veterans who, along with the help of a couple of our most battle-hardened community members, took on the task of putting together this small teaser trailer to give you a taste of some of the new toys that will soon be arriving on the battlefields.
These behind-the-scenes Heroes did such a good job of it that we decided to release it as an official video on our YouTube channel. Have a look, get excited, then let us know which of the new features coming in Oster that you’re most looking forward to in the comments below.
Yesterday we gave you a glimpse of the new character iteration which will improve the realism when aiming your weapon in the Oster build. This will have a noticeable impact on the dynamics of firefights, but it won’t be the only thing that changes when it comes to weapon simulations. Our game design team has gone through the weapon range and damage values, and made some adjustments. In addition, grenades have been made more deadly!
You know the jerk move where you tell a guy that his shoelace is untied and punch him when he looks down? Well that doesn’t work in Heroes & Generals, for the good reason that you don’t have any feet in first-person view… until now! In the soon-to-be-released Oster build, the way you perceive yourself and your situation in 1st-person will become more closely related to the way the other players see you. This means you will see your own body, but also that you will aim from the eye and that your soldier will hold his weapon closer to his body when he’s blocked by a wall or an obstacle. The Oster build is drawing near, but there are still cool new features we haven’t shown you! Besides introducing Mechanized Recon ATs, supply crates on cars, new weapons, a new career selection menu, the Oster build also features several interesting new map tweaks.
We’ve already covered the new buildings you will find on the Airfield map, but now comes something that was widely requested by our community: redesigned access points on the Hill Skirmish and Forest Skirmish maps. Our level design team took on the challenge of finding a way to reduce the amount of spawncamping in skirmish battles without having to completely re-write the existing game mode. The result is a combination of new buildings, new landscaping, new terrain props and rearranged spawn points, which should make it much less comfortable for lazy campers to just sit around the access points, waiting to shoot enemies as they appear.
