After a bit of downtime, the servers are back up with the Leeb build. A couple of the servers also moved physical location, some of the got updated hardware and they all had a bit of TLC. Rolling out a new build is always exciting as it is such a great feeling to let you guys play with and experience the new features we have built.
On another note we have reinforced the community team with Alex aka Reto.Chinch – Reto.Chinch is based in London and will work as
a spy in the War Office, community manager, helping us take better care of all players, their feedback, questions etc. as well as help me (Reto.Robotron3000) with getting more exciting information out in various formats. We will of course do a full developer profile (detailing and disclosing every single skeleton in every single closet) shortly, but until that surfaces, please join me in welcoming Reto.Chinch to the team. I also hope that you have all enjoyed the last couple of weeks’ posts on the new features in Leeb, and that they have given you some ideas of what you can expect to experience in the game. As always if you have ideas for stuff you would like to know more about in the game, please let us know and we will do our best to answer your questions!
That is all from me, have a great week everybody! :-)
Allies & Axis! Ladies & Gentlemen! We are currently gathering questions in a forum thread, curated by Reto.Vashu. So if you have questions for us head on over to this forum thread and fire away.
We will then sort the questions and go through them and answer as many as we can.
Have an awesome weekend everybody!
We saw you discussing the capture zones on the forum and thought it was a good idea to review all the capture zones for the Keating build. You are now able to play the Town map with pretty much every capture zone revamped. In this post, I’ll tell you about the changes. Overall, they have become larger, and some areas have even gotten some new entry paths to allow for more interesting close combat gameplay.
I am very happy to be able to say, that this was the first and the last build that sponsored WOI. We are going back to WOII since retreating is enabled once more starting next build.
However, the retreating system will not work like it did in the past. In this article you can learn how we can capture and control towns in the future.
Sound the retreat!
The battle-system consists of 4 steps: Skirmish, assault, defense (counterattack) & retreat. Here is a quick walkthrough of what happens in the various phases.
As promised in the last post I will now go through the 5 attack lines on the map and try to illustrate some of the upcoming changes in more detail. Enjoy!
The area between A2 and A3 has gotten a hill sneaking across the road, while the road leading towards A3 is more sunken into the terrain, secluded with shrubbery and bushes.
As an extension to the matchmaking work required by ‘Play with Friends‘ and as part of the general effort in making the game easier to understand for new players we are working on adding tiers to matchmaking as has been requested by the community for a LONG time. So without wasting further keystrokes, take it away Reto.Hal9K (tier 3) – Reto.Robotron3000
To help avoid the situation where first-time players are being completely overrun by more experienced players, we are working on adding tiers into the action game matchmaking. This is also a benefit for the veterans, as they won’t be as frustrated with people new to the game who might not yet understand what “NMY pz3 at B2 app. B3” means. :-)
In the first iteration we will stick with two tiers, cleverly named: Tier 1 & Tier 2
Jefferson and the accompanying Videolog is online. As you will probably be aware, it is summer here on the Northern hemisphere, so a lot of us are having some time off to go on vacation, frolick in the sun and spend time with family and friends. But fear not, not everything stops. We are gathering feedback and data and hotfixing Jefferson as fast as possible, if you run into issues, please head to the forums, and even if you might not get a reply from a developer immediately, we are reading and following up on all the important threads. As I am up next for some R&R there won’t be an Intelligence Bulletin for the next two weeks, but then I expect to be back with tall tales from the Swedish forests and a lot of information on the next exciting features for the game.
The team here is currently working on four major things: First is hotfixing bugs on the Jefferson build on live, second is helping the next build Keating through it’s Quality Assurance sessions to get it stabilized, third is working on features for the upcoming builds and last, but not least – vacations at various beaches and chilled white wine in the shade.
That is all from me, and have a great Wednesday everybody! :-)
