The Bad: Our hosting provider was hit by a large scale DDoS attack (the Hackers!) last night and the game was taken offline, but it is back up again. We’re terribly sorry about this and to make up for the misdeeds perpetrated by the hackers, we offer you a little something to help you when you get back on the battlefield.
The Good: All of you logging in within the next 48 hours will automatically receive a voucher for 1 day of free Veteran Membership via in-game e-mail.
For those who already had Veteran Membership running during the attack, it has automatically been extended by the duration of downtime plus we have added an extra day – in addition to the voucher you’ll receive if you log in within 48 hours.
The voucher is valid until Friday the 8th of April at 15:00 CEST / 09:00 EDT. (click to see when this is in your timezone).
So make sure you use the voucher BEFORE this time.
HOW DO I USE THIS VOUCHER?
Go to http://game.heroesandgenerals.com/ or launch the game on Steam.
Click the Menu button (cog wheel) in the top right corner
Click on the “Redeem Voucher” button
Paste or type in the voucher code “THEGOODTHING” and click “OK”
The next major update will have a new faction, which is one of the smaller, but not unimportant nations of WWII: the Swiss faction. It is a neutral faction that cannot initiate the first attack towards any of the other factions, but if attacked by a faction it will then be able to perform attacks towards that faction for the remainder of the War, but only within the region of Switzerland.
The first and only Assault Team and soldier type available for the Swiss faction is Recon, but in coming updates we will add further Assault Teams and soldier types. The Swiss Recon soldiers will be armed with K31/43 rifles with 2.8x Scopes and a Swiss Army Knife as default weapon. The Swiss Faction will be the only Faction in which Soldiers will earn Gold instead of Credits.
In the upcoming weeks we will reveal more information about the Swiss faction…
Tune in on today’s devstream#68 at 15:00 UTC +1 for more details about the next update…
Easter is around the corner and to celebrate we came up with some extra special Bundle Packs for you to enjoy the holidays on the battlefield!
The Easter Pack will give you Veteran Membership and Ribbon Boosters, to kick-start your soldiers through the first days of Spring and, as an extra special treat for all players who just can’t get enough, we introduce the Veteran Year Pack with 365 days of Veteran Membership and as many Ribbon Boosters as any Easter Bunny can carry!
Why would you want that? Because Ribbon Boosters give all your soldiers a four hour lasting boost of 75% in gaining ribbon experience and Veteran Membership increases all earnings, experience and gives you an extra Combat Badge Slot, as well as an extra Weapon Slot.
The event starts Friday the 18th of March at 03:00 US EDT / 09:00 CET and ends Wednesday the 30th of March at 03:00 US EDT / 09.00 CEST. Click the dates to see when this is in your timezone and note that yet again the European Union switches to Daylight Savings Time in the middle of the event as well JUST to add a pinch of confusion.
The in-game Store will be getting a new section in the coming Bauer update: bundles, packed with upgraded weapons, exclusive skins (such as the Black Locust SVT-40 featured on this screenshot), Ribbon Boosters and Veteran Memberships. This is something every player can look forward to.
In the coming update named Bauer, we’re adding a brand-new terrain vehicle to the game. And this one is not German, but American — the wonderful M29 Weasel!
Originally designed to be used solely in snow, the M29 Weasel proved to be a very versatile vehicle able to move men and equipment through difficult terrain where wheeled vehicles gave up long ago.
With the ability to attach two different supply crates and improved off-road capabilities, the M29 Weasel offers a completely different experience when transporting the player into battle. Carrying both medical supplies and ammo or Panzerfausts at the same time can lend you a significant tactical advantage. Who wants a motorbike or car, when you can get a tracked all-terrain vehicle carrying both soldiers and supplies?
