‘Rommel’ update is now Live!

The new build named Rommel (after the German field marshal Erwin J. Rommel) is live on the servers! So here’s a quick overview of the new features we’ve added for you to enjoy!

New Features

Generals and Officers

We have expanded the ranks all the way to Field Marshal and made major improvements to the strategic gameplay. Generals and other commanding officers are now characters that equip Assault Teams, starting with their own branch of the armed forces and then expanding to other branches. New Weapons: FG42 & M1 Carbine

In the last build we re-introduced the paratroopers and a LOT of players asked for paratrooper specific weapons, these are here now; the German Fallschirmjägergewehr 42 and the American M1 Carbine. If you want to know more about these awesome new toys, take a look here.

New victory conditions

Looking at the map you will notice that there are more important cities marked with a star symbol (★). These are the strategically important cities that determine the winner of the war. To learn more about how this new feature works, take a look at this blog post.

Vehicle Wrench tool

For a long time a heavily damaged tank has just been a useless chunk of metal, most tankers would abandon them and try their luck on foot, but now you haev a choice! The repair wrench is available for Tankers, Infantry and Recon and can be used to repair damaged vehicles. This takes time and is best performed away from danger. Official Twitch channel

We have started a Friday devstream on Twitch, where we will broadcast live from Reto-Moto HQ and show new features, answer player questions and maybe show off what we are working on for the coming builds. In case you missed our first episode, you can check out the recording on youtube here.

Mobile Command

The Mobile Command app moves along on its own release cycle (when at all possible) so the current version is compatible with the Quesada build when it goes live.

    So I see that paratroopers still carry their parachutes, great that’s really great Oh and you’re charging for rockets another great feature well done. So next update you’re going to charge for standard bullets?.

    The GUI is confusing, doesn’t show the actual countdown time and the yellow and red pop-up text is too offensive on the eye. Where’s the revert button?

    I had the assault group, bought for gold. Now they are gone…?
    Also missing Anti-Tank gun bought for gold, at the level of the Skydiver. And buying a new soldier, my gun does not appear.
    Is it a divorce for money…)xxx(((

    Even MORE hit indicator text added to GUI while the community asked for less (First we had Doritos, now we have Flappy Bird GUI)
    Servers not synched, enemies die sooner than indicator tell you you hit/killed them (hit reg lag),
    Hitboxes worse than before.
    Paying insane amount of credits for bazooka shells (o.k. this game was always pay to gain). I just see this as an extra challenge for the non payers to keep up since game was to easy anyways.
    Again altering Heroes layout screen (why?, previous was just fine)..

    Sorry but i dont get this… I liked M-build best imho.

    You should add more planes to both sides like light fighters, heavy fighters and bombers. I like the new update and keep up the good work!

    zookas and shrecks are 500cr every single shot?
    Im sorry, but thats total crap, why would anyone bring a bazooka, and two shot a tank, just to make back like 50cr of the 1000 they spent to kill it?
    NOBODY uses bazooka or shreck anymore now…
    know how much panzerfausts are on the back of jeeps? THIRTY-SIX freaking credits each…and anyone can just grab one, and it doesn’t take any equipment slots…
    Mines are still very cheap as well, so yeah, whoever thought to make zookas cost 500cr per shot must be mad if they think anybody will ever use them again, WHY NOT JUST REMOVE THEM COMPLETELY?!?

    Combined with the updated tank physics: jeeps cant even drive up a very shallow set of stairs while tanks can drive over railcars and act like they have gyros keeping them perfectly balanced even when they’re nearly on their side (is it even possible to flip tanks at all anymore???) and its pretty clear that this patch was a huge buff to the already somewhat balanced tanks ingame…

    Together with the stupidly slow grind to ever get to use AT’s again? I’d have to play for 50-100 hours just to be permitted to use a single infantry AT again, and warfunds are in complete excess now for that given reason…
    Feels like they made the grind alot worse as well, but maybe its because they continued to raise required experience exponentially at later levels…

    My guard unit got completely used up in a battle and i got like 2k experience out of it…so now apparantly commanding units on a map gives twice as much experience as does in-game fighting, on a per battle basis (if you’re amazing and can even pull off a 1k game)….whats the point of even playing actual games anymore then?

    Reto plesae can you add the new weapons to the first blood tutorial?

    So we can test the new weapons before we buy them…
    like the FH42, it cost nearly 300k that is verry much for a wheapon that maby dont match to my gaming style ;)

    id love to see more destruction in the next build. I.E houses/buildings crumbling when hit by tanks. id also like to see tanks having a better destruction model like you can hit certain parts to immobilise it like the track. Saying that, brilliant update and can’t wait to see more. Nice job Reto!

    I feel me defrauded, the m1car. from the us army is much easier to get, then the fg 42 and it is much better. with the fg 42 you can not shoot while moving!? and at distance you can not hit anything.
    I whish i can give weapons back after a test-time of an hour or so. (300k for nothing :()

      Whenever you login to play, the game automatically updates.

      So just login and play :-)
