Updating weather & light settings.

I am currently working on updating our weather/light settings and will include these in the upcoming build “Felber”.

I am trying to get all parameters going, with among others – properly working “tone mapping” (adjusting light/darkness to simulate pupil expansion/contraction), so you should be able to adjust and see properly both inside dark rooms and outside in sunshine.

Also I have tried striking a balance between realistic and interesting/artistic setups that all have their individual qualities together with being playable – not too bright and not too dark etc.

For the next build we have the following settings that is randomly shuffled BUT with Day being the prominent one and foggy night being a rare wildcard. We know that it is high on the players’ wishlist to be able to check the weather report before launching the action game can keep airplanes grounded in thick pea-soup fog etc. and this is the a step in that process.

    Finally, fixing the gamma that always wants to spoil my eyesight. Btw its still a little laggy on all the servers (everyone is yellow ping) but better now compared to last time. Keep up the good work!

    Felber looks to be a really exciting step forward. Both for the developers and the players who get to see what’s been worked on.
    Good lighting (and environmental conditions) will make a huge difference to the quality visuals; yes, but also the gameplay.
    Add to that the further development of the strategy part of the game and one can start to see the games elements start to link together and become richer for it.

    Pic 1 and 2 my favourite…I just can’t help but smile when I see sunlight breaking through leaves of trees. Pic 4-clouds are beautifull, pictures 5 and 6 look like they came from zombie movie and I preety much like that. For pictures 7-8 I don’t really understand what they’re trying to show. Pics 11,13,14-Beautiful night lightning effects and street lights.

    This is one small step for art designer ( I guess) but one giant leap for community and beyond.

    Wow – a lot of comments… so glad to see that you guys still contribute!

    First of all thanks for the nice feedback – I also feel this will be a nice update. Now to answers…

    @ Chlodovech : please explain a bit more about the “light polution” you mention … its meant to work as a clear and bright night setting…. really black/dark settings are on the drawing board and being discussed as part of more stealthy gameplay.

    @ evilsamar : 7 and 8 are the first stab at an overcast day setting… the plans are to implement slight rain and thunder in the distance to have an eerie feel with danger lurking around the corner.

    @ jumana : To be frank we have been uber busy polishing the Felber build and the process of doing the intelligence bulletin came to a halt… this week we aim to have one as usual.

    I think even for a full moon the sky is to blue. Especialy the lower level of the sky near the ground is very bright.

    @ Chlodovech : ok.. I see what you mean… the settings are not set in stone.. but I would like to test them out both from an artistic and gameplay point of view… the settings might even change slightly for the actual release of Felber :) … thanx for the comment.. its taken into consideration.

    Its about time to fixe the Orange-Juice morning glory. Looks really nice, but what the hack are your settings ? The game never looks that beautiful for me doesnt matter what settings i am using. For me the moon-night is still to light
